This is a clean, original Martin Comm II Alto Saxophone SN 141xxx. These horns are very rare in original lacquer, because the lacquer is so delicate, and because they were only made for a very short time. This horn plays pretty well on its medium-old pads, but it would be great with a fresh overhaul. It has a very nice tone, medium dark, lush, with fat palm keys, and an even scale throughout. Intonation is good as well, and the keywork feels comfortable under the fingers. This is an all around very good vintage alto for a wide range of uses. It works great for classical playing, though that may be surprising to some, and with a different mouthpiece, works equally well for jazz. If you want this horn with a fresh overhaul by Matt Stohrer, talk to me and we can discuss price. It ships in a beautiful original case.
