    Wolf Tayne 7 metal Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece MPC507

    $ 175

    Small chamber, straight sidewalls, abrupt and prominent rollover baffle, along with a moderate tip opening of 0.091″ makes for a very flexible all around mouthpiece that is bright and cutting at high volume, but can still be pretty and easy to speak with low volume and subtones. Bonus atomic age style ligature.

    Woodwind Co K4* (Actually 7) .100″ EG Reface Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece Great! MPC952

    $ 225

    This is like a vintage Reso Chamber or Slant (more like a Slant) also made of the same great old hard rubber (steel ebonite they called it), and then refaced by the great Erik Greiffenhagen. Erik did a tidy looking Link style baffle on this one that gives you a combination of warmth and projection that you normally have to buy a $1000+ Link to get. This is a great deal if you want something like the GS RESO/SLANT but black. It had a tiny shank crack, so I banded it with a metal band using half of a ligature. Should last forever that way. Price reduced as a result.

  • Woodwind Co. NY D7 Tenor .073″ 4* Tip MPC253

    $ 299

    If you talk mouthpieces with me, you will find that I am a big fan of the Woodwind Company. It was a wonderful place where you would go with your teacher and get fitted with a mouthpiece by a mouthpiece maker at his bench, finding which of the 168 facings and numerous chambers worked best for you. For tenor, I find I like the B chamber and the D chamber best so far. (for soprano and alto, it’s different). This is a nice, vintage Woodwind Co D7 tenor, which has a medium-large, round chamber and just a little bit of baffle. It is similar to a Florida Otto Link Tone Edge in the baffle profile, though the chamber is slightly smaller. It has nicely curved side walls and a beatifully done facing with thin tip and side rails and a signature “cloudy” looking table with facing stamped on the table. This is a nice, balanced player that would be perfect for the tenor player who is not going for a big tip opening, but wants a piece that sounds good and is easy to control. It has a warm, rich tone with just enough punch to make it work for jazz when pushed, but not so much that you stand out from a section if you want to blend. Great do-it-all tenor piece for a variety of playing situations.

    Woodwind Co. NY Special Made for Dick Stabile Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece MPC477

    $ 275

    This is a top-quality Woodwind Co NY mouthpiece with no baffle, straight sidewalls and a medium chamber. The tip opening is 0.069″, This plays like an old Selmer soloist, with a little more projection. Dick Stabile was a virtuoso player with mad altissimo skills. Maybe this was one of his personal pieces? It’s hard to say. They usually just say ‘Dick Stabile model’ not ‘Special made for Dick Stabile,’ so maybe this is a cool collectible, in addition to being a nice all-purpose mouthpiece that is easy to play.

    Woodwind Co. of NY D7 Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece C88

    $ 299

    This is a Woodwind Co. of NY D7 mouthpiece. It has a 76 tip opening, curved side walls, not much baffle, and a large round chamber. It plays plays with a very rich full sound and would make a very open sounding classical piece. It is also in excellent condition. These pieces are extremely well made- on par with vintage hard rubber Links.

    WS Sumner Acousticut Rubber 4 Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece MPC434

    $ 110

    Carved out sidewalls and large chamber. A very long and mild rollover baffle. A very small chip in the tip, which would be easy to clean up, but doesn’t make a playing difference. The rails look good. 0.082″ tip opening. Good piece for all-around concert band tenor, blending, classical etc. These are high quality and deserve to be better known.

    Yanagisawa Metal 7 Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece MPC387

    $ 275

    This silver plated Yanagisawa mouthpiece has a long rollover baffle, straight sidewalls, and a small chamber. It has a tip opening of 0.106″, and is in very good condition. These are fantastic mouthpieces that deserve wider recognition. It plays like an Otto Link Florida Super Tone Master with a really good and responsive facing. Great piece for the money. I have one of these in my personal collection. Better than the modern version in my opinion.
