This is a beautiful original lacquer Buescher 400 Top Hat and Cane alto SN# 313xxx, with all original pads and snaps intact. This model is the pinnacle of Buescher’s saxophone manufacturing, and it is known for its great build quality, big sound, and excellent intonation. The color is actually a bit darker than the photos, and more honey-colored. This horn is in beautiful and very clean condition overall and the main thing you notice is that it looks great. The sound is rich and medium between bright and dark, with plenty of power when you want it, but also with the ability to play beautifully and right in tune on lyrical passages. The keywork is fast and comfortable – you just have to get used to the LH pinky table if you are already used to a modern horn. The adjustment takes most players a couple of weeks but is well worth it for the sound you get. It is not very common to find such a clean example like this. It is on consignment for a discriminating saxophone collector who is reducing the size of his collection and letting some of his prized horns go.

This is a super-rare silver plated Buescher Top Hat alto, with an unusually late serial for a silver one. This horn has lacquer sprayed over the silver to preserve the shine, so that will need to be removed (easy to do) if you want to polish it when it is repadded. It is a very nice example, with nearly 100% of the original silver intact, beautiful engraving, no resolders, snaps and springs intact, original case, original mouthpiece and ligature. If you want one of these that is already overhauled, I have another silver one available right now that plays great.

This is a gorgeous, all-original Buescher 400 Top Hat and Cane tenor. It is in excellent original condition with all parts intact and original case. These 400 tenors are probably the finest saxophones produced by the Buescher company and represent the pinnacle of its several decades of saxophone development. Tonally, these horns are beloved for their unique combination of a rich, bold, distinctively American saxophone sound that is basically medium between bright and dark that gets punchy and brighter when pushed. It is smooth and mellow with a more closed mouthpiece and plays with a warm round tone for classical, with especially accurate intonation. As a super-deluxe model, they also stand to continue to go up in value in coming years, so the time to grab a nice one like this is now.

This is one of those tenors that you almost never see, and certainly not in this kind of condition. This is a super early Top Hat and Cane tenor in original matte silver plate. It still sports the original black rollers on the pinky keys that they used on the earliest ones of these horns. You never see these. From a playing perspective, this horn just wails. It has a big, medium bright voice and is very free blowing. It is a powerhouse kind of horn that also has great intonation and easy altissimo. Whether you’re a collector or a player, what more could you want?

Buescher Aristocrat Alto Saxophone 335466 140

This basically pristine vintage saxophone from 1951 is the same as the Buescher Big B, just with less elaborate engraving..  These professional quality saxophones are known for their good intonation, sweet and mellow tone, and excellent build quality.  This particular example is from the very beginning of the model run just after the end of the Big B model, and is in nearly mint condition.  It still has its original pads (and Snap-on resonators), and even plays a bit on them, but you will want to get an overhaul.

These play very well when set up- just listen to Johnny Hodges play his Big B to get an idea of what you can sound like on this horn with an overhaul, 50 years of practicing, and a knee-buckling load of raw talent.  Also, as an added bonus (“at no additional charge!”) this horn comes with a wooden clarinet in the case of unknown potential labeled “Revelle Master”.

Here is a beautiful, original lacquer Buescher Aristocrat Big B tenor with small bell. It has a fresh top-quality full overhaul/restoration, and retains its original snap in pads and gold Norton springs! The lacquer is a beautiful golden honey color, and this is some of the best looking engraving of any vintage saxophone in my opinion. These horns are among the best American tenors ever made and were billed as a jazzier alternative to the 400 “Top Hat and Cane” line. These are excellent, professional tenors that are highly prized for their big complex tone, good build quality, excellent intonation, and all around satisfying playing experience.

This is a nice, clean, original lacquer Buescher Big B tenor saxophone. Buescher Aristocrat Series 1 Deco Engraved Silver Baritone Small Bell Fantastic 273737

This is the only small bell Buescher Art Deco baritone that I’ve seen. I’m sure there are others, but if there are, they could hardly be nicer than this one. It has almost all of its original silver plate intact, as well as the gold in the bell. The pads are in good condition, from an overhaul with not too much play time on it.  It just got a nice tune up on the already-newish pads, and it plays great! If you love a baritone to have a full, warm voice and great intonation, this is the horn for you. Plus it has the rarity and beauty to make it very special. It’s priced SUPER low for what a quality baritone it is, and there is most certainly only one available!

Buescher Aristocrat Series 1 Tenor Amazing Near Mint Overhauled Nicest I’ve Seen 280857

This is a 1938 Buescher Aristocrat Series I tenor saxophone in pristine physical condition with a very well done fresh overhaul that retained all of the original Snap-on resonators.  The lacquer is original, nearly flawless, and this horn appears to have sat in its original case for much of its life until very recently, when it had the good fortune to be overhauled very well by someone who obviously knows Bueschers.

These horns are known for their excellent intonation and rich, sweet tone- but they can also roar given the right mouthpiece, and they are quite mouthpiece friendly in my experience.  The ergonomics are quite good, and when done well- as this overhaul was- they are light and slick under the fingers.

The engraving is the proper “art deco” style for this model, and like the rest of the horn is in exceptionally fine condition.

This is the nicest Aristocrat tenor I have ever seen, and it plays exceptionally well.  This horn is in the shape you want, with an overhaul that is ready to play well for years from the moment you open the case.  If you’ve been thinking of owning a pre-war Buescher Aristocrat tenor, you’d be hard pressed to find a better one.

Buescher Big B Alto Saxophone Original Lacquer Good Condition 324407

This is a 1949 Buescher “Big B” Aristocrat, so named for the ornate engraving of a, well, a Big B on the bell.  This horn is in very good condition, and the typical wear around the fine engraving of the B on the bell is not present, which indicates that this horn has led a life mostly in a closet somewhere.  There are no resolders or past dentwork to speak of, and it plays *way* better than it should on some very old pads, but you would want to get this repadded to play like it can, which is very, very good!

These horns are undervalued in my opinion.  I mean, you can get this one in such great shape with all of its original Snap-on resonators and overhaul it for not a whole lot more than a Yamaha student model in total- seems like a good buy to me! They combine excellent intonation, comfortable keywork, top notch build quality, and beautiful lacquer and engraving with a warm, centered tone.  Johnny Hodges famously played one of these, and his tone is a very good example of the blend of sweetness and power these horns possess.

This is a 1949 Buescher “Big B” Aristocrat, so named for the ornate engraving of a, well, a Big B on the bell.  This horn is in very good condition, and the typical wear around the fine engraving of the B on the bell is not present, which isn’t surprising since this alto was treasured in an extensive collection for the past forty years or so. There are no resolders or past dentwork to speak of, and it plays quite well on an overhaul that the above-mentioned collector had done at some point before putting it away. This is an excellent value! It has the Norton springs, but not the snaps, which actually makes it easier to maintain, since the pad work is the same as any other saxophone now.

This is a beautiful freshly overhauled Big B tenor with small bell and gold wash. It was carefully re-plated, probably by Anderson Plating in Indiana sometime recently. It’s definitely a pretty saxophone, with gorgeous engraving and a dark gold wash in the bell. It sports the desirable smaller bell that only a subset of Big B tenors have. These horns are among the best American tenors ever made and were billed as a jazzier alternative to the 400 “Top Hat and Cane” line. Buescher Big B Tenor Saxophone 293523 Original Lacquer Fresh Full Overhaul Excellent!

Price JUST reduced mid May 2020! This is an excellent deal!

This is an original lacquer Buescher Aristocrat Big B tenor with the desirable small bell. It’s one of the most beautiful vintage Bueschers, with extensive engraving and gorgeously translucent, dark nitrocellulose lacquer. They don’t make them like this anymore.

This tenor just got a full mechanical overhaul, and I mean the works! When I got it, it had new pads, but the pad work was not that good, so now it has a really great overhaul and plays excellently. The keywork is in great condition – nice and tight. The missing lacquer on the back of the bow doesn’t show when you play, and is from a small dent that was removed a bit to vigorously at some point. That is now fixed, and the rest of the horn is quite nice. Neck is in good condition also. There are no dents or dings. It is hard to find this desirable version of the vintage Buescher tenor in good shape, and this one is better than all but a few. It has the snaps and spuds intact, but has correct style ‘real’ pad work that works around the spuds. (If you watch Matt Stohrer’s video on Buescher overhauls, you’ll see what I mean. This is extra work, but worth it to do right the first time.)

Playing wise, it’s tons of fun. It has a centered, warm tone with excellent response and intonation. It would be pretty hard to sound bad on this tenor. It has that classic American straight-ahead projection that fills a room whether you are amplified or not. And it’s just pleasant to listent to. So many of the modern options I hear people playing are different flavors of bland and rather hollow-sounding. This tenor is rich and full of color. Bueschers like this tune well with a wide range of mouthpieces, and they can do anything from classical to jazz to R&B.

                      Only one available.

This is one of the best possible vintage soprano saxophones. For players, a True Tone of this serial number (213xxx) is just about as good as it gets. This soprano has great intonation and a superior tone – warm, round, lyrical, and not nasal or grating at all. The gold plate is just about all there, and there are no dents or dings. One post has been resoldered, and the repair was done well. This horn needs a repad, but you can play it a bit as-is too.

Here is a near mint silver early Aristocrat with split bell keys. This is the model that Sigurd Rascher played, and these horns are still in great demand. This horn has the ** neck, which is rarer and less-understood than the 3 and 1 necks. I have seen people in forums claim that the other necks have better intonation, but like so much you read online about rarer saxophones, it is hard to say whether that reputation is deserved or not. It ships in the original case, which is in ok condition.

This is a rare silver Top Hat and Cane alto sax in near-pristine condition. It has just about all of its silver plate intact and there are no dents or resolders anywhere on the instrument. A small ding was removed from the neck, and it’s in good shape now. The body is straight, the bell flare looks great, as does the bottom bow. The pads are in good shape and the horn is in great regulation with a carefully-done setup. It ships in a beautiful blue-gray and white True Tone case that is in good condition. It would be hard to find a more beautiful example of a Top Hat. The engraving is particularly striking.

This is the best playing model sopranino ever made, with the best tone and with excellent intonation (for a ‘nino). It is also extremely rare in gold plate and very beautiful. The gold plate is around 98% on this horn, and the only blemish is some scuffing behind the lip of the bell where a number had been engraved at some point. This horn comes with the original case, and also the original mouthpiece, ligature and cap. I have the original lyre as well.

This is the best playing model sopranino ever made, with the best tone and with excellent intonation (for a ‘nino). It is also extremely rare in gold plate and very beautiful. The gold plate is virtually all present on this horn. There are no past repairs on this horn. This horn comes from a collector who took excellent care of it, so if you are looking for the ultimate sopranino, both from a collectibility standpoint and from a playability standpoint this is the horn for you!

This is a nice, clean, original Buescher Super 400 tenor saxophone. It has original lacquer, original pads, springs, snaps, and a cool original case. This is a professional horn made in the USA that is basically identical to the more expensive “Top Hat and Cane” tenors, but which has simpler engraving. These horns all have a big, balanced tone that is medium between bright and dark, and excellent intonation. They work great for a wide range of playing situations. It is always important to get a structurally clean vintage horn if you can, and this is definitely one.

This is a very nice example of a Buescher ‘Top Hat and Cane’ model tenor saxophone. It has almost all of its original lacquer intact. There are no dents, and only a few dings on the back of the bottom bow. The neck has been pulled down and repaired well. It has older pads that are sealing well, and it has just been put into good playing condition. It has a big medium bright tone that is great for a whole range of settings. People call this the quintessential rock and roll horn, but it works for much more than that. The intonation is great and the horn is nice and responsive to play. This sax should make someone very happy.

This is a beautiful example of a Buescher Big B Tenor saxophone. It has the original lacquer in a dark honey color that only the vintage Buescher’s are able to get. This is one of my favorite looks for a saxophone – this color lacquer and this Big B art deco engraving. Looks great! Many people do not realize just how good the Buescher tenors from around 300k serial number are. They have a big, complex, medium dark tone. The intonation is excellent, and the sound is so nice that you find yourself listening to yourself play!

The Buescher Top Hat and Cane tenor is the top of the line saxophone model made by the Buescher company. This horn is relacquered, so it’s a chance to get it for a significantly lower price than it would otherwise be if it were original lacquer. On a horn like this, where it is actually pretty hard for the average person to tell that it was relacquered, it is very unlikely that the light buffing that was done affected the tone of the horn in any negative way. As you can tell by looking at the pictures of the engraving below, this horn was very lightly buffed, or perhaps hand polished when it was relacquered. These horns are killer players when they are repadded well, so this should be a really good purchase for somebody out there!

This is a super-rare tipped bell Buescher soprano. It has a curved neck that moves the horn down in your hands so that it hangs better on a neck strap and feels lighter and easier to play than a regular soprano. And the bell tips up to compensate for this, giving the horn a unique look. This horn is in very good condition, with almost all of the original silver intact, and the only past damage I notice is some dent work around the bell flare area, which is very common on any vintage soprano, since the case is so stiff in the bell area. True Tone sopranos are superb instruments, with a big, round, rich tone that is medium dark in the core and very flexible for different styles of playing. The intonation is very good, hence the “True Tone” model name, and tends to be a bit more slotted in and less flexible than other vintage sopranos, not that that’s a big deal if you have a good ear. For those who are mainly concerned about getting a great tone and who are willing to work with the vintage keywork, this would be an excellent choice.

This is one of the very last “Top Hat & Cane” Buescher 400 alto saxophones made- the model run ended around serial number 360,000.  The lacquer is not original, though it has not been overly buffed, and about half of the relacquer remains. The keys are nickel plated, which I imagine was not original, but it was very well done.  The original Snap-On resonators and amber rollers are present, and the horn is in pretty good physical condition. It will need an overhaul, but it is a pretty solid sax with no major damage or dents, and the price is considerably less than most Top Hat & Cane altos.

This is a rare original silver-plated Buescher 400 Top Hat and Cane alto saxophone SN299xxx. It just got a fresh overhaul with white roo pads. It’s a very responsive alto and also easy to play. Like you would expect with a 400, the sound is rich and medium between bright and dark, with plenty of power when you want it, but also with the ability to play beautifully and right in tune on lyrical passages. The key work is fast and comfortable – you just have to get used to the LH pinky table if you have been spoiled by a modern horn, which takes a couple of weeks but is well worth it for the sound.

Beautiful original lacquer, original pads Buescher Super 400 alto ‘Top Hat & Cane’ model. This is the most deluxe saxophone that Buescher produced, with deluxe engraving, fast keywork, and Buescher’s signature top quality intonation. Don’t miss the little details that take these horns from good to great, like the silver “tone ring” under the bell lip, the underslung octave key, and the raised Buescher logo in the engraving. If you have been looking for an alto that has the sweet, dynamic, moderately-focused Buescher tone, and that looks beautiful, and is in uncommonly good original condition, look no further.

This alto has no resolders, no dents, and only light play wear on the original lacquer. It has the original case in good condition. The neck is in very good condition. Even on the original pads, this alto still plays surprisingly well. It has the snaps and spuds intact, as well as the gold plated Norton  springs. Everything you look for in a top quality Buescher is here. Just get the pads replaced by the repair shop of your choice, and you will have an alto that sounds bigger, sweeter, and more complex than any of the modern alto options, that tunes excellently, and that looks gorgeous. These are built extremely well, and they stay in adjustment very well down the road. The Buescher Top Hat and Cane altos are the creme de la creme of Buescher altos, and they are quite hard to find in this sort of condition.

This is a 1955 Buescher Top Hat and Cane tenor saxophone in original silver plate finish. It’s hard to overemphasize how rare the tenors are in original silver plate. I have seen three original silver Top hat and cane altos, and one replated silver tenor that started as lacquer. But this is the only original silver one I’ve ever seen! There are probably some others out there, but I doubt that there are very many.

This rare beast also just got a complete overhaul done, and it has all new pads and is totally ready to go for the long-term, right out of the case. You’d be hard pressed to find a nicer example of a Buescher Top Hat and Cane tenor anywhere! I’ve seen a few nice original lacquer examples in recent years, and they sold for basically this price minus the overhaul cost, which means you’re getting the rare silver plate finish for not much extra money compared to a really clean original lacquer one. Tyler did a video on this horn that you should watch with headphones for the best sense of the sound. To me, it plays with a warm, round tone, with lots of power and excellent intonation. These horns are just REALLY FUN to play. That’s the main reason to buy one. It’s great for almost any type of music from classical to rock. The Top Hat tenors work well with even really bright, high baffle tenor pieces, because the big, warm vintage tone can support that bright mouthpiece without getting brittle. The low register is effortless, as is the altissimo. This is a rare opportunity to add this horn to your collection that is both a top player, and very collectible at the same time. It’s one of the most beautiful vintage saxophones as well.

Buescher Top Hat and Cane Tenor Saxophone Fresh Overhaul Factory Relacquer 300849

This highly-desirable Buescher Top Hat and Cane tenor is in excellent condition, AND it just got a complete restoration, which means an overhaul of everything that can be done. That’s like a $1000-1500 value added right there.

This looks like original lacquer, but is actually a factory relacquer job done with basically no buffing or changes to the brass of the horn. Probably just a chemical strip, hand polish, and re-spray. It looks really good, and plays great too!

The Top Hat and Cane is easily the most desirable of the Bueschers, and it is one of the most beautiful vintage saxophones also, with the raised metal Buescher logo, the castle engraving, and all of the little design touches that set it apart. I personally love the silver ‘tone ring’ underneath the bell flare. A lot of work to add; not very visible, but they did it anyway. And there are details like that all over the horn.

This is a great all-purpose tenor. It is warm and full sounding – nice fat upper register, responsive low register. Intonation is very easy. And it works with a wide range of mouthpieces. A lot of those beach band 60’s tenor solos are on Bueschers like this, but you can just as easily play jazz or classical repertoire on them. You’re saving about $1500 off the price because it has a new coat of lacquer. That’s a great deal.

The Buescher True Tone was an enormously popular horn in the USA in the 1920’s and 30’s and there are lots of them around today as well. That is why they are not worth as much as some of the rarer vintage horns. But the reason they were so popular was that they play well, so if you are looking for a beautiful and good-playing alto sax on a budget, the True Tone is a natural choice. The gold-plated horns are much more rare, and they look the best of all the finishes from that time.

If you’re looking for the best possible vintage tenor saxophone on a budget, then this is probably it. The early Buescher Aristocrat tenors like this are fantastic. The 156 is the most popular model, and the ones with a “Big B” engraved on the bell sell for double the price of this one, even though this horn is exactly identical to the Big B, except for the engraving. So it’s a high-end, fully professional tenor, but for not much money, and it sounds a lot better than almost any modern tenor if you are going for a big, complex, vintage-leaning tone.

This hulking behemoth is a 104xxx Buescher True Tone Bass saxophone in original silver plate. This sax has had a relatively uncomplicated life, and it is very clean for a bass. If you’re looking for a good condition vintage bass, there are not all that many good options, and this should be one of the better ones available. This horn has a big warm tone and it plays down to low Bb without too much trouble. It comes with a mouthpiece, and the original neck is also in great shape. I’d be happy to answer any other questions that you may have about the horn. It’s definitely lots of fun to play!

This beautiful Buescher bass saxophone just came back from a full mechanical restoration, and it is in top playing condition. It’s rare for any bass sax on the market to get a complete overhaul. You almost always have to buy them needing restoration, and then slowly become reconciled to the high cost of restoration, haha. Every bass sax I’ve had restored over the years has been that way. I end up spending a ton to get the horn all the way right. But when it’s right, it’s glorious! So even if it’s hard to make any money selling restored bass saxophones, it’s at least a lot of fun.

This Buescher bass is in excellent condition. It came to me with (probably) original pads  It has a full matching set of original Buescher snaps and spuds, for those of you who want that stuff.

It’s now one of those very special, rare bass saxophones that actually plays effortlessly down low softly. You only get that by seriously spending some time and money on the overhaul, but it’s worth it. Condition wise, it’s very good. Very light lacquer wear and no serious past damage. The overhaul price is included in the price!

As a bonus, it also comes with a brand new Gard wheelie bass saxophone case. And I have some good past experience shipping a bass saxophone. I can ship it anywhere in the USA for a flat shipping fee of $250, or less if you are near to North Carolina.

This, combined with the fact that it is the only Buescher C Melody that I have seen that has a front F, makes this horn very very special. If you are serious about saxophones outside the normal Bb and Eb family, then this would be a great one to play or to collect.

People keep emailing me asking ‘Is this really a C soprano?’ and I say, “Yes, it really is!” So if you were wondering, then now you know. It has old pads, so you will need to budget for an overhaul, or at least for some significant pad work for it to play its best. I replaced the case foam since these pictures were taken, and the case now keeps it nice and safe for shipping purposes. This horn is in quite good condition and with a good overhaul and gentle hand polish it will look like a new saxophone! The ‘True’ in True Tone refers to pitch accuracy, and it’s actually correct. These horns tend to tune really nicely. If you don’t have a C soprano mouthpiece, the best option is the modern Yamaha 4C or 5C soprano piece for Bb soprano. It has the right dimensions to tune well on this horn, and it’s also cheap and easy to play. I could throw one in with the horn for free if you want. A C soprano is fun because you don’t have to transpose. Whether that means playing at church, or just reading along with a piano at home, it’s a beautiful sounding sax that isn’t too expensive, and is professional quality.

The late True Tone curvy’s are coveted for their unique combination of a big, warm, rich tone and accurate intonation. The modern soprano sound for some reason has not managed to recover the richness of 20’s to early 30’s soprano tone (probably because the modern sound is a development of the Mark VI soprano, whose design actually PRE-dates the advancement represented by the Buescher, Conn, and Martin sopranos of the late 20’s!). When you play an old Buescher, Martin or Conn, it’s almost like you’re playing a different instrument from what people are used to thinking of as soprano saxophone.

This is a SUPER rare BURNISHED gold plate True Tone soprano. Meaning that the gold is applied with a burnisher and is much thicker than gold plate and much more long-lasting. The late True Tone sopranos are coveted for their unique combination of a big, warm, rich tone and very accurate, easy intonation. Cosmetically, and mechanically, this is also as clean of an example of a late True Tone as you will find. It is nearly perfect with no past repairs and no current dents or dings or issues. It has a high F, which is great. It has a fresh, full overhaul done by Barnard Instrument Repair, in Iowa – one of the premiere saxophone repair shops in the USA right now. Get it now – there is not likely to be another one like this for sale any time soon.

This is a beautiful original vintage Buescher True Tone Bb Soprano saxophone. It has almost all of its original gold plate finish intact. (Real gold, not gold lacquer.) Gold is a durable and protective finish, and with a gentle hand polish, this soprano can look virtually brand new again! It’s sold needing an overhaul, and it would be ideal if you want your own repair shop to work on it anyway, or if you’re a repair person who would like a very satisfying overhaul to do. The overhaul adds a lot of value in this case, so you shouldn’t lose money on the prospect either. There are no dents or dings, and I don’t see any evidence of past repairs either, which is remarkable. You’ll probably need to spend a few bucks on new rollers, which can be ordered here. This soprano is NICE!

The great thing about True Tone sopranos, is that they tune really well, even with many modern mouthpieces, and the tone is round, velvety warm, and complex. Bottom line is that people will actually enjoy listening to the tone of this soprano, where many other sopranos tend to be too bright and reedy (I’m looking at you, Selmer.)

This is truly a FANTASTIC saxophone, but it is currently still low-priced. It is also not super-easy to find. The Series IV wasn’t made for all that long, and these later ones are the best of the True Tones. As the name suggests, these horns play with “True” intonation – they are easy to play in tune. This particular horn is in basically near mint condition – it has its spuds and snaps and Norton springs intact. The Silver plate is thick and nearly 100% there. It will look new when polished and repadded. You won’t find a better horn for the money than this anywhere.

This is a beautiful, original gold plate Buescher True Tone Series IV tenor saxophone with roller G#. It has all of its snaps intact, and the pads have been replaced not too long ago. It plays well on the current job, which was done before I bought the horn. When I say gold plate, most people think I mean lacquer, but this is actual gold plate, like would cost you $4500 to have done to any tenor saxophone today. This horn came from a top quality collection of vintage American saxophones, and I have not seen a better example of a late True Tone tenor. It has had a few small dents removed from the back of the bow, leaving some marks there, and there are a couple of dings inside the bell that are hard to see. The thumb hook is also resoldered, I think, but I can only guess at that because the lacquer over the gold plate is missing in that spot, but the plating is all still present.

It is pretty uncommon to find an almost 90 year-old saxophone still looking anything nearly this nice. This is a really fantastic example of a True Tone. With the durable, tarnish-resistant gold plate, it’s very hard to beat for the price. Let alone with good pads. It’s fantastic.

This is a clean, original silver plated example of a Buescher True Tone Series IV tenor saxophone. At serial 237689, it’s one of the later True Tones, and it has excellent intonation and more comfortable keywork than the earlier True Tones. This is a fully professional tenor saxophone with excellent build quality and almost all the original silver plate intact, as well as the gold wash in the bell. It has NO PADS however, and will need an overhaul in order to play. It doesn’t have the spuds in the key cups, which is probably a good thing, as your repair shop of choice can use regular pads to do the overhaul. Should be a great deal for someone! It comes in an older contoured protec case that is safe for shipping. You want a nice clean example like this if you’re going to play a vintage Buescher. Nothing else is as sweet and well-balanced. It’s like a Conn but less wild, and it has a beautiful set of overtones as well. It will look nearly new if you polish it.

This should be a fun horn to play and nice to listen to as well. You can’t say that about every sopranino!

This is an absolutely gorgeous example of a vintage Buescher True Tone soprano saxophone from just about the ideal serial range for tone. Vintage saxophone aficionados (geeks) like me tend to love the TT sopranos around 180-200k serial for their warmth and big sound, combined with really excellent intonation. This gorgeous example came to me with original pads still intact, and I got it overhauled and polished up. I was surprised and delighted to find that the ‘gold wash’ in the bell turned out to be rose gold!! I also love the little ring of engraving above the bell flare that gives this soprano a distinctive look. If you want a vintage soprano that tunes easily and sounds way warmer and fuller than any modern soprano (and that actually has reasonably comfortable keywork), this is it! It’s priced to sell as well. Good luck getting a nicer True Tone soprano and overhauling it for this price.

Buescher True Tone Soprano Original Gold Plate Overhauled 183067

Beautiful original satin gold plate Buescher True Tone soprano saxophone! This is one of the desirable later versions of the True Tone and plays really nicely in tune with a warm, round tone. You won’t go wrong with this soprano. It has a recent overhaul done by one of the best repairmen in Canada and it is in quite good shape. It had a couple of posts resoldered – one at the top of the upper stack and one under the pinky table. These posts always seem to be resoldered on Buescher sopranos. I think they just pop off and have to be stuck back on, on most of these. The gold plate is in great shape. The tone is unlike anything you can buy today – the True Tone is not thin and nasal like a Selmer Mark VI. It’s much more balanced, pleasant, and dare-I-say ‘modern’ sounding! Only one available!

Even so many decades later, these are still desirable for their warm, round tone and excellent intonation. This horn has nearly 100% of its original silver plate and the gold wash in the bell is particularly nice. It has older pads that are still sealing well. It should be in good shape for a few years or perhaps more in this condition. Note that I have the keys corked closed for shipping in the pictures, but all the keys are in totally normal regulation and position. It ships in a nice modern case that will be very usable both for shipping and for regular use.
