Selmer Super Sax / Radio Improved / Balanced Action Tenor NECK Fair Condition Hard to Find!
From the collection of Adam Niewood, this is a very hard to find original neck for a Selmer tenor saxophone from the 1930’s. Comparing it to others in my collection, I’d say it’s probably from a Super Sax or late New LargeBore, which on tenor means approximately 14k-17k serial number. It has a patch on the bottom of the neck where the braze needed to be repaired. I just got that done by Aaron Barnard in Cedar Rapids (who is superb at this), and it’s now looking and playing its best. If you have a New Largebore or Selmer Super Sax with no neck, then this would be an essential article to get. It’s well worth the price. You never see these for sale. It’s shorter than a BA, SBA, or VI neck by the way.

Selmer Super Session HR Alto .073 (Meyer 5) Saxophone Mouthpiece MPC436
This mouthpiece is SOLD, but to find mouthpieces in stock, please go to the following link: https://www.getasax.com/
mouthpieces/ This mouthpiece has straight sidewalls, a medium to small chamber and no baffle. It plays great, with a flexible tone and good projection, in contrast with a Selmer C*. Great all-around alto sax mouthpiece for a good price. The tip opening is 0.073 so the same as a Meyer 5 = very comfortable for most players.

SML Coleman Hawkins Special 3xxx
This saxophone is sold! But click here to see our current selection of tenor saxophones. The SML Coleman Hawkins Special model is not often seen, and it seems to be especially rare in alto (this being the only one that I can find any evidence of existing). This horn is in my personal collection, since I’m a big SML fan myself. These horns were made in honor of the “Hawk” himself, who is said to have played one on (at least some of his) European tours.

the Buescher Elkhart Ind. Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece F74
This mouthpiece is SOLD, but to find mouthpieces in stock, please go to the following link: https://www.getasax.com/
mouthpieces/ I have a soft spot for “the” branded things. Buescher at some point thought that this mouthpiece was the one that epitomized their brand. Scooped sidewalls, large round chamber, no baffle. Tip opening measures 0.068″. Classic swing era dark tone. high resistance, low to moderate projection. This would look great on your Aristocrat.

Wood Stone Anemos M Metal Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece Excellent! MPC462GC
This precision crafted Japanese mouthpiece from legendary Ishimori workshop! It has Guardala-like narrow rails and a step baffle to bullet chamber. It is moderately bright yet flexible with great projection, again, like a handmade Guardala Studio or something. Condition of this one is near mint, and it has a Selmer ligature with it as well. Tip opening measures 0.100″.
These sell for $625 when you can get one. Their site says “Limited production mouthpiece. A stainless mouthpiece with large bore with a shorter high baffle. Its deeper chamber provides brighter sound in the high range as well as soft and rounded sound in the low range.”

Woodwind Co Steel Ebonite K4* Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece MPC546
No baffle, scooped sidewalls, large chamber. 0.060″ tip opening requires a harder reed than I am used to, but really sings compared to a C* once you commit to the harder reed and an ensemble sound.

Yamaha YAS-62 Purple Logo Alto 14xxx
This saxophone is sold! But click HERE to see our current selection of alto saxophones. This is a beautiful, near mint purple label Yamaha 62 alto. It has only a few light scratches on the back of the body, and the rest of the horn is basically perfect. It comes with the original case in excellent condition! All original condition. This is a super-clean example of one of the best modern altos period. It plays well with a medium bright tone, great intonation, and a more interesting-sounding core to the sound than most other Yamahas. These horns work well for every kind of playing, from serious saxophone study to jazz to rock and beyond (Dave Koz plays one of these for smooth jazz!). -

Yanagisawa S991 Soprano Two Necks Excellent Condition Plays Great!
The Yanagisawa S991 is the Acura of soprano saxophones. It is built to extremely high standards, lasts forever, plays in tune, is easy to use. Basically, it does everything well. This horn is in excellent condition with only minor cosmetic wear from regular use. There is no past damage, and it comes in excellent playing condition. It just got a thorough tune up and is playing its best. The Yanagisawa S991 soprano has a rich, warm tone that is pleasant to listen to whether you are playing jazz, classical, or commercial music. I was just playing the Bach ‘Little’ Fugue in G minor on this soprano, and it really is almost the ideal instrument for the job. The intonation is just right on throughout, and the keywork is super comfortable and fast.
Original case is in nice shape. If you have been looking for a great soprano for a great price that is easy to play and reliable, this is it!
