This is an excellent condition, original lacquer King Super 20 Alto SN#339xxx with full pearls and solid silver neck. This is a primo serial range for Super 20 altos, and this one features the more comfortable left hand pinky setup that some people really like. It has a fresh overhaul done by Steve Collins for me, and it feels *really* good under the fingers. I am sorely tempted to keep this one because it just SINGS! Tonally, it is Cannonball all the way and super-responsive. This is one great horn, and I will be sad to see it go when it sells. Its last gig was playing Charlie Parker with Strings in a NYC show! This is a turn-key purchase for a superior King alto that should make even the pickiest players very happy.

The overhaul is really important to how a horn plays, and this one deserved a really good overhaul. It has the correct flat metal resonators and a great setup. I am sorely tempted to keep this one because it just SINGS! Tonally, it is Cannonball all the way and super-responsive.

This horn is very clean mechanically, with only some light lacquer wear to speak of. The color is gorgeous. I need to do new photos in natural light because it actually looks way better than this! The neck serial matches the body, and the double socket is in good shape. The neck is in excellent condition and is not pulled down. The pearls are also nice and sharp, and not worn down. The pants guard on the back is an exact copy of an original one and will match the horn as it starts to get a bit of pants wear on it. Or you could give it a bit of lacquer wear yourself if you want to, and it would be literally impossible to tell that it’s not the original part!

This King an outstanding player. Super 20’s in any condition are rare enough, but really good ones are something many people never get to play. I have been buying these a lot lately, because they are just so great, so if you are looking for one, feel free to contact me. I also pay very good prices for them with old pads (or new), if you happen to be selling one.

This is a turn-key purchase for a superior King alto that should make even the pickiest players very happy. Because the Super 20 was made for a long time, and the cheapened models are more abundant, you can find a cheaper Super 20 many places, but Kings are notoriously difficult to get totally right, and this horn is clean, turn-key, and has a top-quality boutique overhaul already done (which adds significantly to my cost, and makes life easier for you). It includes a new $300 Hiscox case for superior protection of this superior instrument.
