The Selmer AS-500 is one of the most popular and most widely recommended student saxophones today. Many band directors insist that students get either this or the Yamaha intro model. This advice makes sense, because there is a lot of junk out there, and both this and the Yamaha are decent horns. And if you can find one used like this, in great condition, then you are doing even better, saving a boatload of cash and getting the exact same horn for way cheaper. Saxophones do not wear out over time like cars or shoes. So used is as good as new, if the horn is not damaged.
This horn is in good shape with only some of the usual cosmetic wear from use: a few light scratches and small pings in the surface. Nothing at all serious. It plays just fine – pads are not new, but they still have plenty of usable life.
I’m selling this for a friend as a favor, and I’ll include a mouthpiece, neck strap, cork grease, and some reeds to get you started on saxophone. That’s around $80-100 of accessories for free. Get it now and save some big money compared to a new horn.
