As close to new as you are likely to find a Selmer Mark VI alto. This has the medium bow, and a beautiful, warm tone that is medium between bright and dark. Tunes great, works with most any mouthpiece, feels great under the fingers, and will go up in value while you own it. If your goal is to get a Mark VI that looks new, this would be hard to beat. The orig owner was a pro tenor player, and he took the best care of this VI alto that you can possibly imagine. And the price is less than what you’d pay for a new modern Selmer with inferior build quality, inferior factory setup, and vastly inferior resale value. Now that Selmer is owned by a hedge fund, it’s nearly impossible that quality will ever again reach the level of the Mark VI, whatever their marketing may say.
