Selmer Radio Improved Alto Saxophone Relacquered Priced LOW 20073

Price just lowered Feb 4 2019. Nothing is sweeter and more beautiful to play on alto than the Radio Improved and early Balanced Action Selmer Paris alto saxophones.

This horn is hard to beat for the price. This is a desirable Radio Improved alto (of which only around 1500 were made), and it is refinished (relacquered) but besides having received a new coat of paint, it is in good condition.

Looks like there were some small dents removed from the back of the bow area, probably before it was relacquered, and the post that holds the bell key guard is resoldered. Looks fine now. The pads are a mix of older and newer, and it just got a modest playing condition job done before it was consigned. It plays well enough that you can certainly enjoy it. Keys are in good shape, octave mechanism is good, neck cork is brand new. The tone is warm, medium-spread, and rich. Sort of Paul Desmond is the best way to describe it. Desmond played almost the same horn, (an early BA) that was made the next year or so after this.

At this price, it’s hard to beat. Someone is going to get a fantastic alto out of this bargain!

We pay the best prices for great saxophones.
