Selmer Reference 36 Tenor Saxophone Mint + Overhauled! BAM / Selmer Case Great Deal 635957

Freshly overhauled and fantastic!

I think that the Reference 36 is the best sounding tenor saxophone that Selmer currently makes. The problem is, hardly anyone gets to experience this, because they come with a poor factory setup. To put it bluntly, new $9000+ Reference 36 tenors tend to need an overhaul even when they are brand new from the factory. They come with several factory setup problems that can only be really solved if you completely redo the overhaul. (They lack real, careful factory pad work, and the thin pads cannot be easily adjusted after the fact either.)

So I just dropped a full overhaul into this mint, nearly new condition tenor so that it will be head and shoulders better than any brand new Reference 36 tenor out there. The pads are now infintely better setup, will hold up way better over time, the neck fit is better, the feel is better, the tone is incredibly better. The result, after spending over $1000 overhauling a nearly new horn is *amazing*. I have been playing this horn for like two hours. Can’t put it down.

It makes the horn how it should have been in the first place, which is a truly superb tenor. Not exaggerating here. If you’ve been wanting the full experience – rich, full Selmer tone with pad work that makes the horn effortless to play – saturated pianissimo low register notes, fat high notes, perfect tuning – great pad feel – snappy and dry under the fingers – basically as good a tenor as you could buy new today, well, there’s just this one available in the world, as far as I know.

The description: Here is a mint condition Selmer Reference 36 tenor saxophone with its original BAM case.  This horn is cosmetically looks just about perfect. Here is a great chance to own a nearly-new Selmer tenor at thousands off the new price that is better than new in every way.

Once overhauled, these horns have a warm, rich tone reminiscent of the Balanced Action, but they have a lot of their own thing too. Intonation is great, and that ‘lyrical’ focused Selmer core is there. Ergonomics are super great, as you might expect from a new Selmer. If you’ve been looking for a modern Selmer tenor, you would be hard pressed to find a better deal than this one.

Only one available!

We pay the best prices for great saxophones.
