This is a matte finish Selmer Reference 54 tenor saxophone. These horns come from the factory needing a thorough setup, so when this horn came in, I had to get almost all of the sprung-open pads replaced (and a few others I believe). Good news is that Matt Stohrer did that work, and it now plays and feels better than a new one. His pad work is really precise and snappy, feels great under the fingers, and lasts for a long time. If you’re looking for a good used Ref 54, this is an excellent option.

Reference 54

The matte finish shows some clouding (especially around the octave key area) and some light wear near the strap hook. Lacquer is about 95-98%. The horn is structurally totally clean, and it ships in the original Selmer-BAM contoured case, which has some scuffs but is in good condition. If you’re looking for a good used Ref 54, this is an excellent option.
