This is a very clean example of a modern Selmer Series III alto. It has a little spot of lacquer wear on the neck, and that’s pretty much it for cosmetics. Structurally, the horn is also basically near mint and undamaged. The neck, body, bow, and bell all look great. This horn also has good pads. It was a one owner horn, and the guy took it in for a tune up every 6 months.
The tone is clear, round, and medium bright. People love these horns for classical playing, lessons, and saxophone ensembles, as well as for all-purpose playing. If you get a nice smoky-sounding vintage mouthpiece, you can also add back in much of the complexity and body to the sound that is (by design) missing from the horn’s core tone. It ships in the original Selmer hard case with zippered case cover. This should be an easy, turn key purchase for someone. It will save you lots of money over a new horn, and since saxophones don’t really wear out, a nice used one is just as good as (or better than) a new one.
