Selmer Super Action 80 Series 1 Alto Saxophone

This is an excellent condition Selmer Super Action 80 Alto Saxophone. This horn is a Series 1, which has a darker, more complex tone than the Series II’s and III’s do. The Series I’s also have great build quality, employing real pivot screws (not spring loaded ones like the more recent Selmers). This horn has some speckling in the lacquer on some of the upper stack keys, and in some of the engraving on the bell. There is little actual play wear on the horn. This horn has had all the sprung-open pads replaced (plus a few more) by Matt Stohrer, who does excellent pad work (the best that I’ve seen). It plays GREAT and feels really good under the fingers. The great thing about these horns is that the dark core tone is ideal for serious saxophone study/lessons/college and also combines well with a brighter jazz mouthpiece to give you a nice jazz tone as well. If I were buying a modern Selmer alto, I would buy a nice Series I like this over the others, for all of the above reasons.
