Steve Broadus New York Perfected Model S3 Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece MPC599

$ 150

Steve Broadus mouthpieces are high quality and under-appreciated today, mainly because they didn’t do enough marketing in the mid-20th-century, and because they mostly made smaller tip openings. This is well made though and has high-quality materials and design. It should probably be refaced unless you like very small tip openings. It has curved sidewalls, large chamber like a Link Reso Chamber, mild rollover baffle. Tip opening measures 0.058″. With a normal reed, this is thin and pinches off due to the very small tip opening, but with a harder reed, it has nice resistance and a lush dark tone, but still not a whole lot of projection. An interesting piece for west coast style combo work or a starting point for a modern reface.
