This is an excellent example of a Yanagisawa T-990 tenor saxophone. The 990 is nearly identical to the current production 991 tenor that is Yanagisawa’s top-of-the-line design. In case you haven’t heard of the company at all before, Yanagisawa is known to serious sax players as (arguably) the finest maker of saxophones in the world today. All Yanagisawa saxophones are made by hand in their small factory in Japan, and their build quality is the best all-around that you can get.

This horn is cosmetically excellent or near mint. It has some light scratches on the back of the body tube. The original neck has been pulled down slightly (the angle was too low) and then fixed (re-angled) and a small dent removed.

Pads are in excellent shape and will not need any adjustment to play great.

Playability-wise, this horn has a nice, resonant, medium bright tone that is fairly clear and round with some warmth. The intonation and ergonomics are both as good as any horn ever made. The horn feels good under the fingers as well, and the response is very good across the whole range of the instrument.
