Here is a clean, freshly overhauled Selmer Mark VI tenor saxophone with original lacquer. This horn is “American-assembled” meaning it has the engraving pattern and type of lacquer and quality of assembly done in Elkhart, IN. The current pad job is good, and feels snappy under the fingers, and was done by Jared Bufe in Chicago. Everything is sealing very well, so that you can really be sure that the horn is doing its part to get out of the way so that you can play what you want to on it.

The basic tone you are working with is medium between bright and dark, “alive”-feeling, projecting, medium-focused, and generally flexible. People love the Mark VI because it’s the quintessential all-around saxophone, and this one is definitely one of those. You can play anything on it and sound great. As Mark VI’s go, this is definitely one of the good ones. You could try a lot of tenors before finding anything that plays this nicely. It includes a protective modern case for shipping. You can see that there are resoldered low Eb and alt f# keycage legs, and upper stack post. It looks like a few small dents were removed on the back of the body at some point, leaving little trace. The neck, bow and bell flare are all undamaged.

If you are in the market for a good, solid Mark VI tenor that will do it all and does not need any work, you would be hard pressed to do better than this one.
