Selmer C** Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece Vintage Scroll Metal Silver MPC956
$ 300This is a vintage Selmer scroll shank silver plated alto mouthpiece in quite good condition. The chamber is medium and round, to tune well on Selmer saxophones, and the mouthpiece sounds something like the Larry Teal hard rubber Selmer scroll shank, but with a little extra focus and projection from being a metal mouthpiece. It’s not super bright, but more warm, round, focused, and a little louder than its hard rubber counterpart. Tip is a C**, so fairly closed – about .070

Selmer NOS Scroll Shank Metal C* Soprano Saxophone Mouthpiece MPC621
$ 500Rare new old stock example of a Selmer Scroll Shank metal soprano saxophone mouthpiece like John Coltrane played on his Mark VI soprano. If you have a Selmer soprano, these Selmer pieces really improve the intonation, as they have a small chamber that is precisely designed to tune with the bore of a Mark VI. And as we all know, intonation is one of the main obstacles to good soprano playing. Plus the tone is nice and focused and reedy, a la Coltrane. Hard to beat if that’s the sound you want.

Selmer S80 D facing Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece MPC607
$ 100This piece has a smallish tip opening and a square chamber, giving it a narrow dynamic range and a stuffy, nasal tone. Some band directors require these mouthpieces, as do many saxophone teachers, so I always have tons of them around here. But if I had my way, they would all be incinerated. I mean this specifically about the tenor pieces – the altos and sopranos are nice for beginner players. If you are required to buy this piece by some ill-informed authority figure, then please do the following two things. First, buy a used one, rather than paying the ridiculously high new price that Selmer charges, and second, let me know, and I will help you to find another piece that will actually give your otherwise-nice-sounding tenor the kind of tone that it deserves to have. The only mouthpiece this is better than is the even smaller tip C* S80.

Selmer Scroll Shank D Vintage Metal Soprano Saxophone Mouthpiece Soloist MPC517
$ 400Made famous by John Coltrane, who played this mouthpiece on his classic soprano recordings like In a Sentimental Mood, and Favorite Things, the vintage Selmer Scroll Shank (Soloist) Soprano saxophone mouthpieces remain popular today. This is a beautiful example of a Scroll Shank D with a silver plate and its original facing. It also includes the original ligature and cap. It plays easily and has that reedy, focused, projecting, medium bright tone that you think of with those classic recordings. The chamber is round and not very large, much like the hard rubber version of the Soloist soprano pieces. The metal seems to give you just a bit more brightness. The tip on this one measures a comfortable .051″ making it easy to play with a medium reed strength.

Selmer Soloist C Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece MPC505
$ 275This is a quintessential vintage Selmer Soloist with a classical-leaning tone. It has straight sidewalls, horseshoe chamber, subtle rollover baffle, and the tip opening measures 0.073″. It has a dark Selmer tone, with no edge at all despite mild rollover baffle. Round and warm and dark like a cello. If you want your Selmer to lean classical or wind band or small ensemble, this would be ideal. It also completes your set with a Selmer Mark VI tenor from the 1960’s.

Selmer Soloist Short Shank C** Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece MPC597
$ 400This is a beautiful example of a 50’s Selmer Soloist ‘short shank’ tenor saxophone mouthpiece. This would have come with a late SBA or 50’s Selmer Mark VI tenor. It was designed as a dark, classical leaning mouthpiece, but sometimes people get these opened to larger tips to do the Joe Henderson sort of thing for jazz. The Soloist has straight sidewalls, a pretty small chamber, and a very slight rollover baffle. Dark mellow tone, high resistance piece, good for section work or maybe classical with a bit of an edge. Tip opening measures 0.075″.

Selmer Soloist Style Long Shank C* Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece E11
$ 225This is a Selmer Soloist Style Long Shank C*. These mouthpieces look identical to the Soloists but they do not have soloist engraved on the table and are therefore called Soloist style. These mouthpieces also have less of a rollover baffle than the soloist. This piece has a .068 tip opening, a slight rollover baffle, a horse shoe chamber, and straight side walls. The piece has a few scratches and is a bit discolored, but no playability issues.

Selmer Super Session D Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece MPC602
$ 200Straight sidewalls, large round chamber, rollover baffle. Tip opening measures 0.77″. This is a nice all-around mouthpiece for classical, section blending, or the developing player. It has medium resistance and a medium-dark tone, but allows for some tonal flexibility. As you would expect from the bore shape, it has more in common tonally with a Link Tone Edge or a vintage Selmer Soloist than with an S80 C*, but still more well mannered, with a bit more resistance and less brightness.

Soprano Brilhart Reproduction 3-Band Ligature Hard Rubber Mouthpieces
$ 165For Hard Rubber Soprano mouthpieces. This fits everything including vintage Buescher and Conn, Meyer, Selmer Soloist, Selmer S80, Yanagisawa, Vandoren, and virtually all of the boutique soprano mouthpieces.
As an added bonus, this EchoMaster ligature also fits metal Dukoff alto mouthpieces like Dukoff Miami alto saxophone mouthpieces perfectly!
There’s a reason why the vintage Brilhart 3-Band ligatures have been singled out by the market (players) as by far the most desirable vintage ligatures. They are great ligatures! But there will never be enough vintage Brilhart ligatures to meet the high demand for this style of ligature. And never before has there been a Soprano ligature available! (Brilhart only made alto and tenor.) This is an amazing ligature and also fits almost every soprano hard rubber mouthpiece ever made.

Steve Broadus New York Perfected Model S3 Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece MPC599
$ 150Steve Broadus mouthpieces are high quality and under-appreciated today, mainly because they didn’t do enough marketing in the mid-20th-century, and because they mostly made smaller tip openings. This is well made though and has high-quality materials and design. It should probably be refaced unless you like very small tip openings. It has curved sidewalls, large chamber like a Link Reso Chamber, mild rollover baffle. Tip opening measures 0.058″. With a normal reed, this is thin and pinches off due to the very small tip opening, but with a harder reed, it has nice resistance and a lush dark tone, but still not a whole lot of projection. An interesting piece for west coast style combo work or a starting point for a modern reface.

Tenor Hard Rubber Brilhart 3-Band Reproduction Ligature Echo Brass
$ 165There’s a reason why the vintage Brilhart 3-Band ligatures have been singled out by the market (players) as by far the most desirable vintage ligatures. They are great ligatures. But there will never be enough vintage Brilhart ligatures to meet the high demand for this style of ligature.

Tenor Metal Otto Link Brilhart Reproduction 3 Band Ligature Berg Larsen Dukoff!
$ 165Best ligature around for a metal Otto Link (and similar) tenor mouthpiece! Way better than the stock Otto Link metal top screw ligature, this gives you a much firmer hold on the reed, which greatly improves response and reduces movement or reed swelling on the mouthpiece table. The plastic reed plate fits the reed beautifully and opens up plenty of vibration. No deadening fabrics or strings here. Plus, this is made to the highest standards in South Korea by people who care about quality saxophone equipment. It’s a true reproduction down to the materials used, of the most desirable saxophone ligature ever made. This also fits larger body Berg Larsen and vintage Hollywood Dukoff tenor mouthpieces, and all Otto Link Metal-sized tenor mouthpieces, like Ted Klum Focustone Tonamax, Theo Wanne larger body metal, and many others. See the photos. For thin body metal mouthpieces, get the Guardala sized tenor ligature instead.
If you want the best ligature for a Berg Larsen metal tenor mouthpiece, this is it. If you want the best ligature for a Dukoff Hollywood or Dukoff Stubby tenor piece, again, this is it.
This ligature fits all metal Otto Link tenor mouthpieces also – past and present. It fits Masterlink, 4****, ToneMaster, Super ToneMaster NY, FL, Early Babbitt, and regular Babbitt-made pieces. The modern variants like the ‘New Vintage’ NY, Millennium edition etc also all fit.
Buy with confidence. I take returns, and I stand behind this product. It’s the real deal.

Tenor Metal Otto Link Mouthpieces – OT-BB size all metal with BB Screws EchoMaster Ligature
$ 165Introducing a new EchoMaster ligature. This is the OT-BB size that fits metal Otto Link mouthpieces and is all-metal with BB screws. This is one versatile and beautifully built ligature. It’s one ligature for almost all metal tenor mouthpieces. It also fits all Dukoff metal and Berg Larsen metal mouthpieces among many others. I took photos of almost every version of Link as well as Dukoffs and a Berg if you want to scroll through. It also fits metal Yanagisawa on the slim side, and even metal 10MFan and MacSax on the fat side. Quite useful, as you get a tight reed seal, where most Link ligatures are impossible to tighten. This one is easy. -

Woodwind Co K4* (Actually 7) .100″ EG Reface Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece Great! MPC952
$ 225This is like a vintage Reso Chamber or Slant (more like a Slant) also made of the same great old hard rubber (steel ebonite they called it), and then refaced by the great Erik Greiffenhagen. Erik did a tidy looking Link style baffle on this one that gives you a combination of warmth and projection that you normally have to buy a $1000+ Link to get. This is a great deal if you want something like the GS RESO/SLANT but black. It had a tiny shank crack, so I banded it with a metal band using half of a ligature. Should last forever that way. Price reduced as a result.

Woodwind Co. NY D7 Tenor .073″ 4* Tip MPC253
$ 299If you talk mouthpieces with me, you will find that I am a big fan of the Woodwind Company. It was a wonderful place where you would go with your teacher and get fitted with a mouthpiece by a mouthpiece maker at his bench, finding which of the 168 facings and numerous chambers worked best for you. For tenor, I find I like the B chamber and the D chamber best so far. (for soprano and alto, it’s different). This is a nice, vintage Woodwind Co D7 tenor, which has a medium-large, round chamber and just a little bit of baffle. It is similar to a Florida Otto Link Tone Edge in the baffle profile, though the chamber is slightly smaller. It has nicely curved side walls and a beatifully done facing with thin tip and side rails and a signature “cloudy” looking table with facing stamped on the table. This is a nice, balanced player that would be perfect for the tenor player who is not going for a big tip opening, but wants a piece that sounds good and is easy to control. It has a warm, rich tone with just enough punch to make it work for jazz when pushed, but not so much that you stand out from a section if you want to blend. Great do-it-all tenor piece for a variety of playing situations.

Woodwind Co. NY Special Made for Dick Stabile Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece MPC477
$ 275This is a top-quality Woodwind Co NY mouthpiece with no baffle, straight sidewalls and a medium chamber. The tip opening is 0.069″, This plays like an old Selmer soloist, with a little more projection. Dick Stabile was a virtuoso player with mad altissimo skills. Maybe this was one of his personal pieces? It’s hard to say. They usually just say ‘Dick Stabile model’ not ‘Special made for Dick Stabile,’ so maybe this is a cool collectible, in addition to being a nice all-purpose mouthpiece that is easy to play.

$ 299This is a Woodwind Co. of NY D7 mouthpiece. It has a 76 tip opening, curved side walls, not much baffle, and a large round chamber. These pieces are extremely well made- on par with vintage hard rubber Links.

These are fantastic mouthpieces that deserve wider recognition. It plays like an Otto Link Florida Super Tone Master with a really good and responsive facing. Great piece for the money. I have one of these in my personal collection. Better than the modern version in my opinion.
