$ 185Straight sidewalls, medium chamber, very mild rollover baffle, tip opening measures 0.074″. This tip opening is about the same as a 5M, and it plays less open and bright than other 7Ms I’ve played. Maybe it’s the tip, maybe it’s the dings in the side rail.

Meyer Bros New York 6M Medium Chamber Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece .078 MPC1068
$ 1,600Beautiful Meyer Bros New York Alto saxophone mouthpiece. This is the desirable version like Cannonball played. I got this cleaned up and facing checked by Brian Powell probably 10 years ago and have been holding onto it all this time. It has a great facing and measures a .078, so a 6 tip. Easy reponse, great projection and warmth. Not as bright as a NYUSA, and a little warmer than the GS New York, but still plenty of projection and body. Great mouthpiece!

Meyer Bros NY 4M Medium Chamber Alto Awesome! MPC1058
$ 2,250This is a super clean, original box example of one of my favorite mouthpieces ever – a New York Meyer Bros Alto Medium chamber. I love the 4 tip in a Meyer Bros. It has a beautiful balance between warm and bright, with the baffle done just perfectly. You would be hard pressed to find a nicer example. It measures an original .069″ and feels really nice to play.

Meyer NY 4 Medium Chamber Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece MPC402
$ 450Meyer Bros NY tenor piece original facing, in beautiful condition. These are made with the best hard rubber ever. This has a medium chamber, which in today’s world is medium-large. The altos of Meyer Bros get more attention, but the tenors are a lot like the highly coveted Link Slant and Hard Rubber Brilhart mouthpieces, and deserve more attention. This one is beautiful original condition, measuring .072″, so good for classical or ensemble playing as is, but you’d want to open it up a bit for jazz I think. Comes with a nice Selmer Mark VI era ligature and cap set that often sells for $100 just by itself.

Meyer USA 5M Medium Chamber Alto Saxophone MPC489
$ 225A nice example of a “not so vintage” (80’s?) USA Meyer 5. Good hard rubber, nice thin rails. Good projection and a nice bright tone without being too edgy. Tip opening measures 0.072″. A prudent choice if you want a good Meyer on a budget that isn’t expensive like the New York Meyers are.

Meyer USA 5M Small Chamber Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece MPC582
$ 200Gently curved sidewalls, rollover baffle. “Small Chamber” stamp is more like slightly smaller than medium but still pretty medium. Maybe a bit brighter than a standard medium chamber, and the beak is unusually thin. Overall sounds like a Meyer should. Tip opening measures 0.069″.

$ 450This is a beautiful example of an original facing Otto Link Florida Super Tone Master alto 4* saxophone mouthpiece. It is in excellent condition – as nice an example as I have seen. You don’t see the early ones with serial by the table very often. Measures in at 0.060″ tip opening.

Otto Link Florida Super Tone Master USA 8* Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece MPC371
$ 950This Florida USA Super Tone Master has nice thin tip and rails and plays great. It has tons of projection and is quite bright. It has a tip opening of 0.115″, so I’m guessing it was refaced to an 8* at some point. Not sure who did it, but the facing curve is as good as most that you see from refacers.

Otto Link Florida Tone Edge Straight Signature 5* Original Facing Original Box MPC625
$ 850This is a beautiful original facing Florida Tone Edge that is identical to the late Florida Slant Tone Edge except that it has a straight Otto Link signature stamp. It has the FL baffle and facing marks, as well as the original Pompano Beach box; ligature and cap. A real find!! And it’s a great deal if you want an FL Slant but want to save some money on it only because the signature isn’t slanted. Scooped sidewalls, large round chamber, rollover baffle. Tip opening measures 0.089″. Great tone edge brightness and edge. The smaller tip opening limits max volume and projection without being stuffy and allows for subtle work.

Otto Link Master Link 4**** 4* (Actually a 6*) Tenor Mouthpiece MPC626
$ 600This is a very vintage Otto Link ‘4****’ model Master Link that is also a 4* tip stamped on the table but was opened to a 6* at .095″. Cavernous chamber, scooped sidewalls, slight rollover baffle. Pharoah Sanders played one of these for a long time before switching to a GS Slant of all things. Tip opening measures 0.095″, and must have received a good reface at some point. This piece plays with an airy Ben Webster-Esque subtone all the time for me. Very good at what it does.

Otto Link Reso Chamber Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece EG 7* Excellent! mpc1313
For those of you who are fans of the Otto Link Reso Chamber, here’s an excellent one that was owned by Keenan McKenzie (my former assistant, who did a GS Reso review video for GetASax). It was opened to a 7* by Erik Greiffenhagen and plays beautifully. If you like the GS RESO, it plays very similarly to that, but it’s not a copy, haha. Warm, velvety, round, beautiful for ballads, a bit punchy when pushed, but not super bright. Ben Wendell and Seamus Blake both play/ed a Reso like this and get a lot of projection on it by moving a lot of air, so if you like that dark-but-fat sound Link+Selmer, you can also do that on this.

Otto Link Slant NY Eburnated Bar 4* Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece MPC382
$ 350This very old and a little worn but the bite plate and rails are very nice. It has a rollover baffle, curved sidewalls and large chamber. The tip opening measures 0.076″. This was opened up to a 6 tip by someone good. The table is flat and the tip and rails are beautiful. If you want something basically dark and warm, easy to play, and that takes air well, has easy response etc., then this is the piece for you. It’s hard to find something at all similar among new mouthpieces made today. Has a couple of tiny dings in the tip rail that do not affect anything.

Otto Link Super Tone Master FL No USA 5* Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece MPC620
$ 550This is an excellent condition example of an original facing Otto Link Florida Super Tone Master alto with original box and ligature. It would be hard to find a nicer one. These play dark and fat, not bright like people usually expect. It’s the baffle and chamber that shapes the sound, and this has a large, round chamber and moderate rollover baffle, so not too bright at all.

Otto Link Super Tone Master USA 6 Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece MPC586
$ 225Gently curved sidewalls, medium-large chamber, and an abrupt rollover baffle give this piece a strong attack and bright tone. The ligature with this piece is a bit mis-shapen. As a result it is difficult to use at the back of the mouthpiece. Tip opening measures 0.088″.

Otto Link Tone Edge Florida Straight Sig 8* Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece MPC428
$ 325This is a great Otto Link Florida Tone Edge alto saxophone mouthpiece. This is the same as the USA Slant Signature Florida Otto Link, but with the signature changed to straight across. This was made in FL before the Early Babbitt pieces and has a little more warmth to the sound than the true EB pieces do. It was refaced at some point from an original 5* to an 8* tip, or 0.091″. The tip and rails are in excellent condition. From the markings on the rails and very thin tip rail, it appears most of the work was done near the tip, making for a great projection and a little more edge than stock Link. This works great for lead alto or for cutting through a band, but retains much more warmth than you would get with most other larger tip, projecting alto mouthpieces.

Otto Link Tone Edge Slant Signature Soprano Mouthpiece New Old Stock 4*
$ 850Here’s a rare opportunity to get a new old stock Otto Link Slant soprano saxophone mouthpiece in excellent to near mint condition. Otto Link Slant soprano and baritone mouthpieces were faced by hand at the factory because they were sold in small enough quantities not to require jigs to be made for the facing machine to do them mechanically. That means someone at Link personally hand-faced this to perfection, which I think is cool. It’s a smaller tip at .042″, which feels about like a 5 tip on alto to me when you translate that to soprano tip openings. It’s a high-quality piece for someone who wants it to feel easy to play soprano, and who doesn’t want to have to push a lot of air in order to get a good sound. With a large, round chamber, this piece is ideal for tuning on a Conn or Rampone, etc without having to pull way out. I was really excited to get this one several years ago, and I’ve been holding it in my personal collection since that time. Only one available!

Otto Link Tone Edge Small USA Large Font 7 EB? Soprano Saxophone Mouthpiece MPC525
$ 600This is a beautiful example of an Otto Link Tone Edge soprano mouthpiece. It has its original 7 facing measuring .062″ or so. The 7 stamp is the larger font, and the USA stamp is small font like a FL Tone Edge. The Otto Link logo and chains are not the modern version, and neither is the shank design, and the machine marks on the table are a fine vertical denim pattern. The chamber is large and round. It plays beautifully with a warm, rich tone. I guess this would be an Early Babbitt at least early 80’s. I have to admit, I’m not an expert on the differences between soprano stamping in the 70’s to early 80’s on these. But it looks better than smaller tip ones I see selling online for $800, so hopefully this is a good deal for somebody. It also includes the Vandoren Optimum ligature in the photos.

Otto Link Tone Edge Straight Sig 5* Refaced Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece MPC373
$ 300This Otto Link measures .090″ which would be about a 6 tip. So it was probably just barely opened up. It plays more like a 6* or 7 and is more free blowing than a typical tone edge of this era. Great piece for someone who wants a smaller tip that still takes enough air. This is probably early 80’s vintage.
-

Otto Link Tone Edge Straight Sig 7 Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece MPC526
$ 2200.090″ tip opening is big, but not as challenging as most other alto pieces at this opening. The rollover baffle looks to be hand finished to improve symmetry and form compared to a typical tone edge. There is some resistance to this piece, but it rewards you for the effort with a big fat tone to fill any room.

Otto Link Tone Master 7* (Erik Greiffenhagen) Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece MPC600
$ 850This is a beautiful Coltrane-era metal ToneMaster (not Super Tone Master). I got it refaced to a playable tip, as the original 3 facing just wasn’t going to work for anyone. The ToneMaster has curved sidewalls, large chamber, and a moderate rollover baffle. The tip was opened to 0.105″ by Eric Greiffenhagen. The refacing transforms this into a modern jazz mouthpiece, but with a bit of darkness and subtone lushness remaining from the large chamber and original character of the mouthpiece. Low resistance and good projection like a good modern mouthpiece of this tip opening. Coltrane played a larger tip ToneMaster like this on some of his most influential recordings. It has that combination of fat tone and projection that a lot of people are chasing. Highly recommended.

Penzel-Mueller New York Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece B14
$ 99This is an interesting old mouthpiece with a medium, semi-round chamber, but with flat side walls and a fair amount of baffle. There are some scratches in the baffle area. It is a pretty good player now, in original condition. It is Meyer-like, but with a bit more of an edge to it. Very good hard rubber in these pieces!
-
Ponzol Custom Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece D80

Ponzol M1 Hard Rubber Custom USA Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece F50
$ 225This is a hard rubber version of the Ponzol M1 tenor saxophone mouthpiece. It has high baffle, metal mouthpiece proportions. If you like the streamlined proportions of metal and easy on the teeth compliance of hard rubber, this this may be your piece. It has straight sidewalls, small chamber, and a high stepped baffle. Tip opening measures 0.115″. The high baffle does not disappoint with projection and brightness, but it is also surprisingly easy to lay back and get a slightly darker tone. It would be a nice all around mouthpiece in the right setting, like a combo with electric guitar for example, where you want a cool tone with the option to cut through when needed. If you’ve been playing a Berg and want something slightly brighter, this would do the trick.

Reloplex by Rico Hollywood d9 Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece (8 Tip) MPC580
$ 150Straight sidewalls, tall-narrow chamber (like a Brilhart), rollover baffle. Moderate resistance and good projection, medium tone. Tip opening of 0.085″, and plays like a Meyer 7 or 8. This is a plastic mouthpiece closely related to MC Gregory. Interesting mouthpiece. It’s like a dry martini but buzzier since the tip is open and you’ll use a softer reed than Desmond etc.

Selmer C* Long Shank Soloist Style Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece MPC548
$ 275Vintage 1970’s Selmer Long Shank Soloist Style tenor saxophone mouthpiece in its original C* facing at .068″ or so. Complete your set with a 70’s Selmer Mark VI tenor, or Mark VII tenor, or get a solid, all-purpose tenor mouthpiece for wind band or ensemble playing. These also work pretty well for classical tenor repertoire. This has a different chamber and sound from the detestable modern S80 C* for tenor, which is my least favorite tenor mouthpiece. This is much better.
