Well, if you read the short description above, then you already know what I think about the Zephyr Special. It’s among the best-sounding altos ever made, with a sweet, lively, tone that is just gorgeous.
If you have been looking for a top-quality Zephyr Special alto for a while, it would be hard to do better than this one. And the price is quite low for what you get. Pads are old, so plan on a repad soon, but the price gives you plenty of room on it. It has had a small dent removed from the back of the bow. I’ll post a photo asap, but it looks good. That pink color on the neck is the original lacquer, which you rarely see still intact on the silver neck. (Someone compulsive always polishes it off!) It adds value that it is still there.
If you have any questions about the horn, send them along, and I’ll do my best. Whoever gets this will be very pleased, I think. I would keep it myself, but I have one that is identical to this already.
