This is a very desirable vintage of Selmer Mark VI alto from 1960 with 5-digit serial 89930. It is original lacquer, with no dents or dings, no resolders. The neck has the matching serial number to the body. This horn has older pads and needs an overhaul to play its best, but it is clear that it will be a very good player when repadded. I can get that done for you to the highest standards as part of a purchase if you want, or you can just get the horn at a very low price instead.
The tone is medium dark with lots of power. For tone, these are the Selmer Mark VI alto saxophones that I like best, because you get a big, open, free-blowing sound out if it, with a medium-dark core tone that is just right.
If you have been looking for a truly great early Selmer Mark VI alto that is also priced low, this is the horn for you. Priced low for the fall sale, and because it has some lacquer wear from use. If you’d like to get the horn with a new BAM Cabine case (best case in the world for a VI), you can get one as a package deal with a great discount. I’m trying to make this a very tempting deal for somebody to get a world-class alto for a great price.
