Description
If you are looking for a “life saxophone” this is it. This exceptionally beautiful Selmer Mark VI alto from 1960 is one of the best Mark VI altos that I have had any time recently. It has no resolders, no dents or dings. It has almost all of its original lacquer. There was a small dent on the front of the bow that got removed. No other dents removed. The original neck has the matching serial number and has not been damaged at all. This Mark VI also still has its original pads. This horn is clean, and nobody has messed with the original factory setup. It still plays surprisingly well on the original pads!
A Selmer Mark VI Alto should have a certain vintage complexity and warmth to the tone, and this alto does. It has a lot of power too. The later 80xxx altos have a special tone that is medium dark and focused with lots of power, almost like a Mark VI tenor in an alto size. As soon as you pick up this horn you think, “This Mark VI is alive!” It’s one of those special saxophones that makes you want to play and play.
There is only one available. The price includes the pictured BAM Cabine alto case, which will keep the saxophone safe shipping anywhere in the world.
