Well, here is a horn that is super-incredibly-vanishingly rare. It’s a transitional Conn 8M C Melody. For those of us who care about the C Melody saxophone, this gets our blood pumping. There are only a handful of these horns out there, in all likelihood, and this one has to be one of the nicest, because it’s in virtually mint condition including the original case. It is currently getting an overhaul by Matt Stohrer. I’ll update the pictures and description when that is done (could be a couple of months). If you want this horn, you’ll be grabbing it from my own potential collection. I can already say that this is a burning player with a big sound and nothing stuffy or muted about it. It plays like a good Conn should on the original pads, which is a testament to the level of craftsmanship achieved by Conn in the 30’s and 40’s.
