Description

As you can see, this is a gorgeous example of a gold-plated Conn New Wonder II tenor. It has the thick, burnished gold that is much rarer than the normal “matte” gold plate. And it has extensive engraving on the bell including a 1920’s lady’s portrait. This is one of the best, most awesome examples of a vintage gold Conn tenor that you will see. It has a fresh high end overhaul, and it definitely has that BIG sound that you look for in a Conn “Chu Berry.”

Cosmetically, this Conn New Wonder II Tenor is in excellent shape. The gold plate is in great shape, without much wear, except from normal use, and around the bell area. The original neck looks great and is not pulled down or damaged, save that the octave key has been resoldered (not serious). The body tube and bell flare both look excellent as well.

This is pure 1920’s-30’s jazz power: big, smoky, warm – lots of complexity to make it interesting to listen to. This is lots of fun, and for once, the guitarists and brass players will be asking you to please not play so loudly all the time… This horn has a fresh, high-end overhaul done by the best tech in Italy, with a nice $140 set of high-end reusable flat metal resonators. The pad work is great – feels snappy and “dry” under the fingers, as it should if someone does a Conn overhaul correctly.

It comes in a new contoured case, or you can upgrade to a BAM or Hiscox if you talk to me. Price is firm, no trades on this one please. Only one available. Get it now!
