Description
If you have been told by your band director that you have to buy a Selmer S80 C* Tenor mouthpiece for band class, my advice is to buy this instead, and you will get a better mouthpiece while remaining in your band director’s good graces. The Soloist pieces are the older and better precursors to the S80 mouthpieces, and they play much better. The S80 on tenor specifically is just about the worst mouthpiece ever in my opinion. This piece shows some oxidation because it is made from high quality hard rubber. The tip opening measures .070″ which is what it should be. If you want, I can clean this up for you a bit pre-sale and remove some of the oxidation so it looks more shiny and new. Some people especially like the old look, so I left it for the photos, but it’s not too hard to shine it up. This piece will allow you to blend in on tenor in a band setting without it totally ruining your tenor tone the way an S80 threatens to do:-)
