Here is a beautiful horn that I just got in on trade. It is a mint condition, hardly-played Selmer Super Action 80 Series II alto SN 579xxx. This is not the current Jubilee model, but the better, real Series II. This model has been and will continue to be the most desirable horn for classical saxophone studies bar none. Now that Selmer is no longer making these, the only way to get one is to buy a used one. I will try to keep a nice one in stock for interested buyers if at all possible. Right now, I have three (the other two are lacquered), so send me an email if you’re interested in one of those before it goes up on the site.

Silver plated Series II’s are quite rare compared to the lacquered versions, and they were also about $500-$700 more expensive because of the premium finish. Silver is great because it is so durable. It lasts much longer than lacquer, and it looks good whether it is perfect or tarnished. This horn is getting hand-polished this week, so look back for updated pictures soon. As I’ve said, the horn is mint, like new, with no wear, no scratches, no dents, no dings, and no past repairs. It has hardly been out of the case. Pads are in great shape, and everything is tight and ready to go. Sonically, it plays like a Series II – medium bright, clear, round, French core that is flexible but especially suited for serious saxophone study.

This horn ships in the original case, which is in good condition.
