Selmer Mark VI Alto 1955 Original Lacquer Fresh Overhaul Excellent 62058

This gorgeous 1955 Selmer Mark VI alto has almost all of its original lacquer, and it has also just received a fresh overhaul through GetASax. The pads are Pisoni Italian leather, and the resonators are fancy slightly domed brass reusable ones that are similar in size and design to what the Selmer Mark VI originally came with. This alto has a ‘flush plug’ in the neck to close up where a mic pickup was installed. This is smooth and even inside and out, so it plays the same as if it had never happened, but there is just a little lacquer missing there. This gets you a hefty discount off of what the horn would cost if it had no repairs at all, but it doesn’t affect playability, so it’s a good way to save some money on a desirable 1955 Selmer Mark VI alto that also has a fresh overhaul with all new everything. The tone is dark, focused, powerful and projecting. It’s complex and pleasing to play, so that you don’t want to put it down. With a brighter mouthpiece, like the GS New York, or a New York Meyer, you’ll have the classic lead alto / Phil Woods style setup that will do anything you want it to do. This comes in a new BAM case as well, to complete the package. The overhaul and BAM case add a lot of value, and give you a horn that is an easy, turnkey purchase that is also easy to maintain and that will go up in value while you enjoy it.
