Description
This is a great deal on a hard-to-find Selmer Radio Improved tenor sax. This horn was pro-owned by the same guy for over 60 years, and he had it relacquered for cosmetic reasons at some point along the way. It comes with his CD (featuring tons of NYC jazz greats) and even some photos. Lots of history there.
This horn was loved and played and played a lot. Because of that, it needs a full mechanical overhaul, so that it will be ready for its next 75 years of playing. It does actually play surprisingly well on super-old pads, but seriously, plan on adding a good overhaul.
That said, the price is very good, and someone can get this horn and add an overhaul and come out well. There are not many Radio Improved tenors period. They are such a great mix of a bigger, more spread tone that is still pure Selmer. This is a very good player, and it deserves a good overhaul and a loving home.
